Teamtrans and Fietskoeriers.nl link Logistics Networks

A unique collaboration for greener city logistics in the Netherlands

The Netherlands/Zwolle – Regional and city distribution network Teamtrans and last-mile specialists Fietskoeriers.nl have linked their logistics networks. Teamtrans will now hand over shipments suitable for bicycle delivery in the city to the bicycle couriers.

After a successful pilot in Zwolle, Teamtrans and Fietskoeriers.nl are now scaling up nationwide. Thanks to this collaboration, Teamtrans and Fietskoeriers.nl are able to travel more efficient and sustainable routes. Relatively expensive stops for small parcel shipments in urban areas are consolidated and added to regular courier routes. The linking of the networks will help contribute to clean and livable cities.

Logical collaboration
“As a network, we are constantly looking for more efficient solutions to deliver shipments from our clients,” says Marcel Wesseling, chairman of Teamtrans. “This collaboration gives us new logistical possibilities and contributes to goals as set in the Climate Agreement.”

“For us, this collaboration fits in perfectly with our strategy of being the last-mile transport operator,” says operational director Nick Vreeswijk of Fietskoeriers.nl. “We are the last-mile specialists and we deliver to everyone. This way you get fossil vehicles out of the city and you make the city more livable. And how wonderful it is that we help contribute to sustainable goals from the government and logistics networks such as Teamtrans. ”

Initiative from the Zwolle region
Tielbeke Transport – member of Teamtrans (from Lemelerveld) – and Cycloon – member of Fietskoeriers.nl (from Zwolle) – took the initiative for this green delivery solution. A pilot was carried out in Zwolle in which Tielbeke delivered the shipments to Cycloon on the outskirts of the city. The bicycle courier then delivered the shipment to the customer. The pilot project between Teamtrans and Fietskoeriers.nl was supported by Topsector Logistics.

The combination of local expertise and national coverage enables Teamtrans to bundle cargo flows and transport them in a smarter way. Teamtrans thus achieves a high drop density with fewer kilometers traveled.

In 2016 Cycloon took the initiative to Fietskoeriers.nl and thanks to the collaboration of 19 colleague bicycle courier companies, the bicycle courier became a nationwide package service – with around 600 bicycle couriers active in more than 30 cities. Fietskoeriers.nl is now a key service provider offering city logistics solutions for the total delivery market.
